pOSSIBLE SOLUTIONS TO THE DEATH PENALTY
There are many solutions that can be implemented to get rid of the death penalty all together or keep it to a certain extent and take other actions to avoid it.
One possible solution that may be effective is rehabilitation. At a certain point during a criminal's life sentence, the criminal may be put into rehabilitation to be informed about the damage they have caused. The criminal may be shown an example of the pain that they have caused and even a possible interaction can be set up between the victim and the criminal if both of the parties are willing to meet together. If the rehabilitation is unsuccessful, the criminal in question can be put into a home with little to no privileges instead of be sent to capital punishment. They can also be forced to stay indoors by themselves and stay under constant surveillance.
Another possible solution that can replace the death penalty is life imprisonment. Sentencing criminals, who would usually fall to capital punishment, to life imprisonment would help everybody because the criminals would not be sentenced to death and citizens would be safe from the criminal since he or she would be locked up for the rest of their life. The criminal doesn't have to be sent to death because of their crimes since they can just stay in prison for life. The death penalty also costs signifiantly more than life setences so abolishing the death penalty would provide addtional resources such as services for the victims' family members, defense funding, and even paying for additional police officers on the streets.
One possible solution that may be effective to keep the death penalty is to attack the problem at its source. The police and government can buckle down and be more strict to try to catch the criminals. They can try to catch more criminals before they repeat the same crime again which would save more lives. Not only would it save more lives of citizens but also the criminals because less of them would be sent to death row. If criminals can experience the consequences of their action early while they are in jail, then they will be less likely to repeat the same crime or even do something even worse to avoid falling to capital punishment. |
